INTRODUCING ME, MEL!

Hello there! My name is Melinda and I am a 20 year old student from Melbourne, Australia. I am currently in my final year of University. I decided to set up this blog because I love to read and talk about books and I don't always have people to talk to about them. Anyway as an introduction to myself I have decided to tell you guys what books are my favourite and why (in no particular order).

The first book that I love is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. If you don't know what it is about Elizabeth Bennet and the problems that she faces from judging people from gossip and not getting to know the person. It is set in the late 18th century and I love it. If you haven't read it go and do it!

The rest that I am going to say all belong to series. I have picked my favourite book from each series but I really do love them all.

The first series is The Burning Bridge which is the second book of the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. The series is about a boy called Will who is an orphan growing up in castle Red Mont, a castle in the medieval world of Araluen. It follows Will's journey of becoming a Ranger and the many trials he faces. Again if you haven't read it do so and if you have leave me a comment on what you thought!

Another series I love is the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. My favourite of that series is The Horse and his Boy, which is set during Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy Pevensie's rule of Narnia before they go back to England, but it doesn't follow any of them.

I also love the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series by Rick Riordan. My favourite would be The Last Olympian because of everything that happened and the ending. The ending is so sad, if you have read it you will know what I am talking about. I also like the Heroes of Olympus series which is the follow on series from the Percy Jackson ones.

I read the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins for the first time this year and absolutely loved it. My favourite book is Catching Fire because you meet some new characters, one of which is probably my favourite character. I had been going to read these for a while but i wasn't entirely sure I was going to like them. I thought that they would be a little bit violent for my liking. I had to read them before the movie came out though so I ended up reading them and loving them. I actually don't have a copy for these to put in the photo because borrowed them from a friend.

The next book series that I adore is the Inheritance Cycle. My favourite would probably be Eragon, which is the first of the four books. This is a book about dragons and magic and is a really good book. If you have seen the movie and not read the book please don't be put off by the book it is 1000x better (and I am not exaggerating).

The next one, and the final one that I will talk about in detail, is the Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody. I absolutely adore this series. It is about a girl, Elspeth, who lives in a dystopian world, which is now called the Land. She is one of the few people with mental abilities that the people think were caused by the Great White (which was basically a nucelar explosion that almost wiped everything out). The story follows Elspeth as she tries to figure out her place in the world and handle the weight of her destiny. My favourite book is the third book (of seven, but the last one isn't out yet) Ashling. I like it because there are new characters and the plot gets even more twistier.

Finally I am just going to add quick mentions to Harry Potter, which are either my favourite or second favourite books of all time along with the Obernewtyn Chronicles, and Lord of the Rings. I have loved both these series for a while. My favourite Harry Potter book is the Prisoner of Azkaban and my favourite Lord of the Rings is the Two Towers.

Anyway that is all for  now. Feel free to comment bellow if you have read any of the books and agree/disagree with me and if you haven't read the books comment as well!

Up next: A book review of Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.
